Cabin (900 sq. ft.) in Mariposa, CA
3.7 miles from Lake McClure
Trabucco Trails is conveniently located near Yosemite in California's Gold Country, on a historic parcel near the Mariposa County community of Bear Valley, on a quiet, rural stretch of Highway 49. During the Gold Rush days, the parcel was once cultivated as a vegetable garden, while Forty-Niners discovered gold in the area. The historic rock walls on property mark the perimeter where the garden once grew. The joy of discovery continues here today. Now you can discover the vast riches our universe has to offer. Trabucco Trails, located on 17 privately owned acres, provides you with a grand opportunity to stargaze using high-end, easy-to-use instruments. A robotic GO-TO telescope is provided during your stay, and is included in the rental cost. This open, rural stretch of Highway 49, which is considered 'above the fog and below the snow', provides you with many clear night opportunities, even in winter The Trabucco Trails House, newly constructed in 2018, is well appointed and available year round. Mariposa, the county seat, which is 10 miles south, has many essential services, along with many wonderful dining, shopping, and historic sight-seeing experiences. Yosemite National Park's West entrance is located about 45 minutes away up Highway 140 from Mariposa. We provide housekeeping service (not daily maid service), before and after your stay. Courtesy towels, coffee, tea, cocoa, popcorn, and guest soap are provided to welcome you on the day you arrive. Personal key code access provides you with convenience and security. We also provide a fold-away sofa bed in the living room. Because of the rural nature of the area, there is abundant opportunity for wildlife sightings, such as deer, wild turkey, coyote, bobcat, birds of prey, and perhaps an occasional bear. Seasonal creeks at the North and South ends of the property flow during winter and spring. And, of course, there are plenty of trails here at Trabucco Trails here on our 17 privately owned acres for your outdoor experience pleasure. Make sure to leave some time in your schedule during your stay for stargazing too. Using the telescope, beautiful views of the Orion Nebula, Andromeda Galaxy, Hercules Cluster, and many other deep sky objects are yours to behold. The telescopes offer a TOUR mode, which takes you to the best and brightest objects in the sky during your stay. Stargazing doesn't get any easier than this. From hiking trails to star trails, you will enjoy a memorable Yosemite experience when you stay at Trabucco Trails.

Whether you are looking for a peaceful mountain getaway or trying to find lodging near Yosemite National Park, Sunset Roost is the perfect choice! The Sunset Roost offers quiet solitude in a beautiful foothill setting. The Sunset Roost is a three bedroom, two-bath manufactured home that has been fully renovated inside and out. It is tastefully decorated throughout. Sunset Roost is designed for adults as a non-smoking property. Artwork from local artists adorns every room and spills into the Outdoor Living Room and gardens. And the sunset view is what you will always remember! An open floor plan invites interaction throughout the living area. The large peninsula counter separates the kitchen from the dining area and provides plenty of prep space for creating meals or picnic lunches to take into Yosemite. It’s also a great place for breakfast before you head out for the day. This opens into the living room, which truly is a room with a view! A leather sofa and love seat face one another and look out over the deck towards the Merced River Canyon. The futon day-bed is the perfect place to lounge and enjoy the view (it is also a double bed). Each of the three bedrooms has a character of its own. The master bedroom is outfitted with a king sized bed with a down comforter. There is a large bathtub and separate shower in the master bath, as well as double sinks. The second and third bedrooms are located on the opposite end of the house adjacent to the second bathroom. Both have queen size beds with down comforters. The Wildflower Room has a tall sleigh bed and colorful photography from the surrounding foothills and high country. The Half Dome Room has a low platform bed to allow full view from its second (west facing) window. Local art depicting Yosemite’s most recognizable icon adorns the walls. Enter the Outdoor Living Room through either of the glass doors onto the deck. Defined mostly by the 800 square foot redwood deck and hot tub, you will find yourself spending considerable quality time out here. Outdoor meals are wonderful with the evening breeze and unobstructed sunset views. The deck table seats six. Cook outside on the propane BBQ while you relax on a pair of chaise lounges. It is a bit hard to say where the Outdoor Living Room ends and the yard begins. A lush green lawn invites you to spend your afternoon in the shade of the pines relaxing in the hammock. The gardens are filled with flowers, herbs, and native plants which keep the birds, bees and butterflies happy. Wildlife is abundant at The Roost. You may see deer, bobcat, birds, fox, turkey, peacocks, squirrels, raccoons, and bats. The Sunset Roost offers all the comforts of home. Whether your idea of vacationing involves cooking gourmet meals or take-n-bake pizza, the full amenity kitchen has everything you will need. The home theater system includes a high quality Onkyo Dolby Digital surround sound receiver, DVD player and UHD TV. Wireless DSL is provided. Of course there are plenty of pillows and blankets to keep you comfortable. The washer and dryer are available if you’re on an extended holiday. The Sunset Roost is conveniently located in the community of Midpines, California along the Highway 140 corridor. It is a 25-mile drive to the Yosemite National Park boundary along the “all weather highway” which follows the Wild and Scenic Merced River (it is 37 miles to Yosemite Village from the Roost). The gold rush town of Mariposa is 10 miles to the West. Merced is 45 miles, and the Fresno airport is a 90-minute drive. The Merced River Recreation Area (Briceburg) is less than 7 miles away. There is plenty to do in the area. Most visitors will go into Yosemite, but some, who seek solitude, will be quite satisfied to avoid the crowds. The historic town of Mariposa offers shops, restaurants, groceries, gas and supplies. Outdoor recreation abounds! Whitewater Rafting and kayaking are excellent in the spring. Birding, hiking, fishing, swimming, sunbathing, mountain biking, and gold panning are popular along the Merced River and in The Park. Yosemite is a Mecca for rock climbers from around the world! There is something for everyone to do while staying at the Sunset Roost, even if you never leave the property. We, the owners of the Sunset Roost, have lived here since 2000 and have explored much of the region. We are available to answer questions about our area. With steps and then depths ranging from 3 1/2 feet to 7 1/2 feet, this pool can breathe life back into even the most weary of travelers. Between the black bottom and recently added solar heater(Sept 2020), the sun's heat is easily transferred to the water extending the swimming season on both ends of a traditional pool season. Pool not available in winter. Depending on your temperature tolerance, and weather, pool swimming season ranges from April-October generally(although I know a few Pacific NW kids who have swam in every month on the calendar!) Several chez-lounge chairs and other deck chairs are available for your basking pleasure. Large umbrellas allow you to choose shade or sun. Covered outdoor dining for 10 can be accommodated pool side to enjoy your favorite BBQ prepared on our Weber gas grill. There are outdoor speakers by the pool. Also on the patio is a solar lit 6 sided table for when it is just too nice to go inside at the end of the day. There is ample free parking on site. The PineBluff House is tastefully decorated with natural themed photographs and paintings, many by some of our renowned local artists and neighbors. We truly love the PineBluff House and think you will too. In only 7 miles, you can be driving along the Wild and Scenic Merced River on your way to Yosemite National Park, where visitors can find peace and solitude in the Wilderness, or shop for historic photographs in Yosemite Village, with opportunities for fishing, hiking, and sight seeing among many other things.

House (1200 sq. ft.) in Midpines, CA
9.9 miles from Lake McClure
California has cowboys, beaches and surfing, skiing, hiking and shopping all rolled into one beautiful state. Seeing Yosemite when you vacation in California is a must. For this vacation, expand your mind and enjoy a true California experience by staying in a straw bale home. Unlike those of big bad wolf fame, modern straw bale homes are warm and comfortable. They provide a unique place to rest your soul (and feet) after a day of discovering Yosemite. Our newly constructed Yosemite Straw Bale vacation home is a wonder. While the straw bales provide incredible R-50 insulation, we are using passive solar heating for preheating our radiant floor heating system with an instantaneous hot water heater as a backup system. Our photovoltaic grid panels are naturally creating clean energy from the sun. We tested these techniques on our own home and perfected them in this vacation rental for your enjoyment. Made to feel like your private second home, design touches include a social kitchen with a granite slab bar height counter, finished dyed concrete floors, and cozy radiant floor heating. Sitting hilltop at 3000 feet elevation (914m), the house includes a private deck perfect for relaxing and enjoying the views. We are also honored to share with you, eight fine art prints by renowned Sierra photographer Howard Weamer. The gates of Yosemite are a mere 35 minutes away* on a drive that follows the wild and scenic Merced River. (*Your drive may take longer as you stop to put your feet in the river or photograph the wildflowers along the way.) Check out our profile below, and look at the calendar for booking availability. Call or email to hear more and make arrangements. We look forward to hearing from you. Keywords: Straw Bale, Home, Yosemite, Yosemite Area, Mariposa , Midpines, Hilltop

House (1524 sq. ft.) in Groveland, CA
9.9 miles from Lake McClure
Ridgecrest Roost is a recently remodeled house located in the gated community of Pine Mountain Lake (PML), approximately 26 miles from the north entrance of Yosemite and 15 minutes to Lake Don Pedro. PML's amenities include private lake beach access, boat and kayak rentals, an 18 hole championship golf course, restaurant and grill, horse stables and trail riding, walking trails, pickle ball and tennis courts. Enjoy breakfast on one of the three decks, a day on the beach, or fishing at Fisherman's Cove- there is a lot that Pine Mt. Lake has to offer! A hidden gem for sure! We recently purchased this charming and bright house and have big shoes to fill! The previous owners were wonderful hosts and earned an impressive 130+ five star reviews. You will be able to enjoy the sunrise coming over the mountains in the morning, or star gaze at night with the clear skies of Groveland with the spa jets on your massaging your back. We recently installed a brand new spa and deck lights for your enjoyment. The house is well furnished with comfy leather couches and a love seat which folds out to a bed in front of the wood burning fireplace. We do our best to keep firewood stocked for your use during the cold months. The kitchen was recently remodeled and is shiny and clean with stainless appliances and new quartz counter tops. You won't find old outdated .carpet here as new flooring was recently installed. The two bathrooms have been remodeled as well, with white cabinets, new shower/ tub stalls and slate flooring. We do our best to stock the kitchen with the basics such as oil and spices and all you will need to enjoy cooking with your friends and family in our sparkling kitchen. Just outside the kitchen is a deck with peaceful and pretty views, a large gas grill (propane included), an expandable table with chairs and cushions, two umbrellas, and our new spa. The front deck has new patio furniture and pillows and a new umbrella. You will find one more small deck with more seating off the third bedroom. We love retreating out there on one of the two rockers for some reading while listening to the wind in the trees of PML. Pine Mountain Lake has tons of wildlife who seem to be happy to share their land with you! We see lots of deer, turkeys, squirrels and birds daily. Kids and adults alike love the unique feel of the PML community as you feel like you are out in the mountains, but you have access to so many conveniences within just a short distance from the house. Ridgecrest Roost is just a five minute drive (less than 2.5 miles) to the charming and historical downtown Groveland where you will fine plenty to do! Although many guests find Groveland for it's proximity to the west entrance of Yosemite, many come back just to relax and play in downtown Groveland and Pine Mountain Lake. All within a few minutes of the house you will find the MarVal grocery store- where we buy all of our groceries, the Iron Door Saloon- the oldest running saloon in California, a friendly and interesting museum with all sorts of fun gold rush artifacts at the library, an art museum with local wine tasting, a park with a climbing structure for kids' play, upscale and casual restaurants, shops, coffee houses, and local residents who are happy to share their quaint town with visitors. We even have a local winery, Yosemite Cellars, with lovely owners who will serve as your hosts overlooking the vineyards. Call them to make a reservation for a tasting! Still technically in Groveland, but just outside of the town is Rainbow Falls and Rainbow Pools. This is a guest favorite time and again. (Dog friendly.) A day trip to the west gate of Yosemite will take about 35 minutes on nicely maintained roads, and just over an hour to the valley floor. There is never enough time to soak in all of the splendor of Yosemite, but you can customize your trip to the needs of your group and the time you have to enjoy it. Some guests hire tour guides or hiking guides to further explore the park and others just wing it and take in the sights as they come. The valley floor monuments, Glacier Point, the historic Majestic Yosemite Hotel, waterfalls, hiking, biking (you can rent bikes in the valley floor) all await your visit! If you want to take public transportation down to the park, check out YARTS for their pick up and drop off schedules. For about $15 per person, you can ride the bus round trip to and from the park. The historic town of Columbia is a 55 minute drive and a rich, historic experience. Columbia is lively and historically staged, recreating a classic booming gold rush era town where you will see proprietors dressed in 1850s era clothing, ride a stagecoach, pan for gold, browse 1850s era shops, picnic, dine, or just enjoy the sights strolling with an ice cream on the old, historic sidewalks. (Also dog friendly.) The surrounding Mother Load area has one after the other charming and historic gold rush towns- check out Jamestown, Sonora, Murphies, Twain Harte, San Andreas... lots of good exploring! **** Important note: When checking into Pine Mountain Lake, the gate personnel will ask for your I.D. and a $40 one time, per car fee which goes toward paying for maintenance of the community and amenities. They do not share the fee with the home owners. Thank you for taking time to consider a stay at our place! If you have questions about the area or the house while planning your trip, please contact us! We love to hear from you, even if you haven't booked yet. Interacting with our guests makes our experience enjoyable! And... if you can't tell, we love it here and trust you will have a great trip! Cheers! Marlo and Ronnie

Sleeping up to 10 travelers, this crisp, clean, newly remodeled Groveland cabin is relaxing, welcoming, and brings the beauty of Northern California right to you, along with all of the essentials to ensure you feel right at home. Set just 26 miles (41 km), so 30 minutes from Yosemite National Park in the Pine Mountain Lake community in quaint Groveland, you'll have access to a beautiful and fun lake where you can spend afternoons at the marina swimming or fishing, as well as access to the shared tennis courts, a championship golf course, seasonal pool, gun range, horseback riding opportunities and hiking trails throughout. Although there's no doubt much of your time will be spent exploring breathtaking Yosemite, with so many activities within the community, everyone will stay happily occupied even during downtime. There are plenty of spaces to spread out with two comfortable living rooms and two flatscreen TVs with cable and Roku, though you could also gather everyone together to play some of the board games at night at the two dining tables that each seat six people. There are children's toys too, which means less things to pack if you have little ones. Head out to breathe in fresh air on the covered deck or large patio, or play a game of pool at the pool table or use the dart board after a day of hiking in Yosemite. More great amenities here include WiFi and a private washer and dryer, which makes this cabin ideal for longer stays. The large open kitchen makes meals a breeze with granite and butcher block countertops, stainless steel major appliances, and additional smaller appliances such as a coffeemaker, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, and blender. There is even a highchair should you need it. Whip up holiday meals or easily store quick snacks in one of the two refrigerators in the home. On warm summer nights, you can enjoy the spacious covered deck right off the living room and kitchen that has a gas grill and hammock or the large downstairs patio with a wood barbecue, and when it's a little too cool, grab one of the blankets and snuggle up by the downstairs wood burning fireplace. With three spacious bedrooms, all ten guests will have a comfortable place to rest each night. The master bedroom features a king-size bed, a marvelous en suite bathroom with a shower, its own flatscreen TV with cable, as well as its own deck. There is also a Pack N' Play crib and play pin stored in the closet and a toddler cot should you need them. Another king-size bed is found in the next bedroom, and the third bedroom upstairs has a queen bed. The remaining beds downstairs are two futons with full size mattresses. There is a bathroom with a tub/shower combo upstairs and another bathroom with a shower downstairs. Grab the whole group and head off to Yosemite National Park for a day packed with fun that is only 26 miles (41 km) away. Some great family-friendly hikes in the area include Glacier Point, Mariposa Grove for an up-close view of the world's largest sequoia and a hike through the Tunnel Tree, which the kids will love. Lower Yosemite Falls is short and takes you to the base of the tallest waterfall in North America, or you can hike to the top for some incredible views. Inspiration Point, The Mist Trail, and Mirror Lake are some more advanced trails. There is also rocking climbing at Camp 4. And in between exploring the trails, try horseback riding tours or rafting and kayaking tours too. In the winter, skiing and snowboarding can be enjoyed on the slopes at Dodge Ridge Ski Resort just 54 miles (87 km) away, and indoor gaming and bowling are available at Black Oak Casino just 27 miles (43 km) away. And don't forget to take in the small town feel of Groveland with its historic sites, eateries, and shopping. With everything you'll need, this Northern California home is just the place for your next family or friend getaway, so book now! *Please be aware cell phone reception can be spotty in this area. *Please note, there is a one time $30 per vehicle gate fee that allows you access to all of the community amenities like the pool, golf course, etc. I have tried to get around having our guests pay, but alas, Pine Mountain Lake Association requires it. I do not collect any money, it is just a fee that is paid by you at the gate when you arrive to check in. Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience! *We are available to help answer any questions you may have, so please don't hesitate to email us. Thank you and we look forward to your stay!
